Snowy owl in NC!

Hi! Blue here, so has anyone heard about tundra the snowy owl that was found in NC?  I put the link on the bottom if you want to check it out.   Tundra was found in very unhealthy condition but she is now on her way to health and eating a healthy diet of frozen mice.  Check out the whole story in the link.  Happy birding!

Birds I have seen in my yard

This year the birds I have seen are Blue jays, Goldfinches, Juncos, Fox sparrows, Cardinals, Morning doves,White throated sparrows and hopefully I will see more! And the way to get a lot of birds is good seed and good feeders. watching birds at your feeders is a lot of fun! This year I have seen LOTS of woodpeckers like the Downy and the Red bellied.  Happy birding!

Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are so fun to watch.  I had lots of Ruby throated hummingbirds last year.  Red nectar is bad for hummingbirds so get clear nectar instead.  You might think red nectar would attract more hummingbirds to your feeder but really if you had clear nectar and a red feeder it would still attract hummingbirds.  Some people use strawberry scented nectar.  Strawberry scented nectar is silly because there is no evidence that hummingbirds come to nectar because of it smell.  So get clear nectar and happy birding

Nest boxes

Nest boxes are good to have.  I have read that sometimes birds go inside nest boxes to keep warm.  My grandparents had a bluebird family nest in there nest box.  Keep those nest boxes out all year around.  Happy birding!

Birding

Birding is so much fun! I have been doing it for two years now and I love it.  When you go Birding bring a field Gide it helps a lot.  A life list helps to.  I got one for Christmas last year.  So just went outside and I am seeing chickadees, nuthatches and now hearing a woodpecker! Please tell me the birds you have seen at your feeder.

Lots of birds on the 5th

Yesterday our wi-fi cut out so I couldn't post anything:(. I filled the feeders up yesterday and I witnessed the most beautiful white breasted nuthatch. We all stood in amazement at his beauty. I also saw a red-bellied woodpecker, tufted titmouse and many chickadees. :) I didn't forget the bluebirds!I scattered mealworms around our swing set where they like to perch. Tell me about the birds you've seen at your feeders. Happy birding!

Birding with Blue

Hi!  I'm Blue.  Welcome to my blog.  I love all birds but a few of my favorites are the chestnut sided warbler and the bluejay.  I think winter birds are so fun to watch.  I have seen many rock doves and hawks. I've even seen them sitting together on a power line!  That's all for now. Happy birding! Please leave a comment and tell me about your favorite winter birds.
