Bird of the Day

Hey guys!!!!  Someone finally posted!   So the bird of the day is… The sword billed hummingbird! here are some pics.

The one at the top is a female and the bottom one is a male. I LOVE these little hummers because of their AWESOME bills. These are the only bird who can get nectar from a very long flower. The nectar in the flower is at the very top so this hummer can use it's long bill to reach the nectar.  The bottom photo has a pic of this flower. Well thats all for now. Happy Birding!

Bird of the Day

Hi everyone! Well……. looks like nobody commented for the bird of the day:(  So I guess I'll chose. The Bird of the Day is…… The European Robin!!!  Here are some pics!

These birds are SO CUTE!!!!!! I love their little orange belly's.  I got this off wikipedia (I already knew though)   male and female bear similar plumage; an orange breast and face (more strongly coloured in the otherwise similar British subspecies E. r. melophilus), lined by a bluish grey on the sides of the neck and chest. The upperparts are brownish, or olive-tinged in British birds, and the belly whitish, while the legs and feet are brown. The bill and eyes are black. Juveniles are a spotted brown and white in colouration, with patches of orange gradually appearing.  Thank you Wikipedia!!! Nicely said. Well thats all for now please post a comment telling me ideas for the next bird of the day!! Happy Birding!!!!
